The Social Divide: Political Parties and Policymaking in the 1990s by Margaret M. Weir,
The extraordinary swings in the scope political campaign jobs and content of the policy agenda during the first Clinton administration revealed a fundamental partisan divide over the social role of the federal government. This book argues that the recent conflicts over social policy represent key elements in strategies that parties designed in an attempt to consolidate their hold over the federal government. Long frustrated by divided government, each party exceeded its electoral mandate in hopes of enacting major policy reforms aimed to shift politics in their direction for the foreseeable future. The book traces the overreaching political campaign jobs and limited legislative success that characterized the first Clinton administration's approach to three distinctive features of politics political campaign jobs and policymaking: the polarization of political elites; the predominance of advertising campaigns political campaign jobs and intense interest group politics as political parties have ceased to mobilize ordinary people; political campaign jobs and the unprecedented role that budgetary concerns now play in social policymaking. Although neither party managed to enact its major transforming agenda, Congress did pass new policies--most notably welfare reform--that together with a host of other changes in the states political campaign jobs and the private sector altered the landscape for social policy. The poor have been the biggest losers as Democrats political campaign jobs and Republicans have fought to win the middle class over to their vision of the future. The authors first analyze the institutions political campaign jobs and tools of policymaking, including Congress, the political use of public opinion polling, political campaign jobs and the politics of the deficit. They then consider policies designed to win over the middle class, including health care policy, employer-provided socialbenefits, wages political campaign jobs and jobs, political campaign jobs and crime policy. Last, they address policies targeted at the disadvantaged, including welfare, affirmative action, political campaign jobs and urban policy. In addition to the editor, the contributors include John Ferejohn, Lawrence R. Jacobs, Robert Y.

Race, Jobs, and the War: The Fepc in the Midwest, 1941-46 by Andrew Edmund Kersten,
The President's Committee on Fair Employment Practice (FEPC) was established by Franklin Roosevelt in response to an intense lobbying campaign led by black leaders who challenged his administration to eliminate racial discrimination in U.S. defense plants. In this rigorous political campaign jobs and thoroughly documented examination of the FEPC's work, focusing on the pivotal Midwest, Andrew Edmund Kersten shows how this tiny government agency influenced the course of civil rights reform political campaign jobs and moved the United States closer to a national fair employment policy. Race, Jobs, political campaign jobs and the War looks across the Midwest at the accomplishments political campaign jobs and failures of a New Deal organization that laid the foundation for today's contested affirmative action practices. Rejecting claims that black advancement during the war was due primarily to shortages of labor, Kersten contends that the FEPC made significant strides in allaying discrimination, especially when local authorities cooperated. Efforts to foster racial equality in the southern region of the Midwest suffered from managerial stonewalling political campaign jobs and white hostility, Kersten finds, while areas farther north saw more support from government officials political campaign jobs and community political campaign jobs and union activists political campaign jobs and correspondingly greater success in reversing discriminatory patterns. Events such as the infamous Cincinnati "D-Day" Strike -- a wildcat strike by nine thousand white UAW-CIO workers in protest of the upgrading of seven black machinists -- signaled the depth of racial animosity on the home front. Fighting an uphill battle to dismantle such deep-seated political campaign jobs and virulent racism, the FEPC succeeded in breaking some racial barriers, settling complaints, political campaign jobs and pursuing a vigorous education campaign tofoster more harmonious industrial relations between white political campaign jobs and minority workers. The FEPC also acted as a catalyst, inspiring midwestern local communities to rejuvenate political campaign jobs and transform their own fights against employment discrimination.

Political campaign - A political campaign is an organized effort to influence the decision making process within a group. In democracies, a political campaign often brings to mind elections, that are the choosing of decision makers, but it could also include the effort to alter policy within any institution.

Political campaign staff - The staff of political campaigns are the people who get paid to formulate and implement the strategy needed to win an election. Many people have made careers out of working full-time for campaigns and groups that support them.

Campaign finance in the United States - Campaign finance in the United States is the financing of electoral campaigns at the federal, state and local levels. There are many sources of finance: direct donations from individuals, organizations, especially Political Action Committee and political parties -- "hard money" -- and indirect, unregulated "soft money" donations to organizations that support a candidate but are not officially affiliated to his or her campaign.

Campaign management tools - In the past, political campaigns were conducted using traditional methods of personal contact, such as television and radio media purchasing, print advertising and direct mail. However, the rising popularity of the Internet has changed how campaigns talk to voters, and also how campaigns maintain communications between staff members, volunteers and political consultants, and getting the campaign message out via the web, e-mail and interactive web forms.
